An NGO — Federation of Informal Workers Organisation
of Nigeria (FIWON) — in Osun has called on security
agencies to check what it called the excesses of
politicians in the state.
FIWON noted that such excesses were capable of
destabilising the state.
Mr Olayinka Ibrahim, the State Coordinator ofFIWON, told
the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Osogbo on Friday
the recent activities of some politicians in Osun had been
a source of concern to the people.
He urged security agencies to rise up to the task of
protecting lives and property and also creating peaceful
environment to the residents.
“Security agencies must be on alert to protect lives and
property and also to ensure that peace reigns supreme in
the state,’’ Ibrahim said.
“The tension in the state capital on July 23 at Ideal Nestle
Hotel created fear in many people.
“The police and other security agencies in the state
should monitor thoroughly the activities of some
politicians.’’
Ibrahim, however, urged politicians in the state to use
civilised and constitutional means to present their
grievances to the authorities.
