Gov. Ibikunle Amosun of Ogun, on Friday, sent the names
of transition committee members for the 20 local
government areas in the state to the Ogun House of
Assembly for screening.
Mr Suraj Adekunbi, the Speaker of the state’s House of
Assembly, announced the names of the five-member
committee for each local council while reading the
message sent by the governor during plenary in Abeokuta.
Adekunbi said “the tenure of local government councils in
the state officially ended on Wednesday, July 22, 2015.
“Therefore, in line with Section 40 sub section 1 of the
Ogun State Local Government Law, I write to inform the
honourable House of our intention to constitute transition
committees for the 20 local governments in the state.
“List of nominees who are to serve as chairmen and
members of the committee are attached for the kind
consideration and approval of the assembly.’’
The names of the chairmen of each transition committees
are Messers Tunde Olukoga, Olaniyi Opanuga, Deola
Tayo, Muyiwa Odufowokan and Sabitu Olumide for
Waterside, Odogbolu, Ijebu North east, Ijebu east and
Ewekoro local government respectively.
Others are Messers Lola Awoniyi, Segun Adebowale,
Mojeed Akindele, Ibikunle Bayowa and Olusola Ekundayo
for Sagamu, Odeda, Ijebu North, Abeokuta North and
Abeokuta South local council respectively.
Messers Akin Odusola, Idowu Ojumo, Lukman Adeola,
Akintonde and Akeem Fagbemi would be transition
committee chairmen for Yewa North, Ado Odo, Ifo,
Obafemi Owode and Ipokia local government respectively.
Imeko Afon, Yewa South, Remo North, Ijebu Ode and
Ikenne council areas would be chaired by Messers Olaleye
Tajudeen, Wole Tiamiyu, Awotola, Wasiu Baruwa and
Tolani Obakoya respectively.
The speaker called on all nominees to appear before the
House of Assembly on Monday for screening.
He said “I this medium to tell all the nominees of the
governor to please come to the House of Assembly on
Monday for screening, and I want to enjoin all of them to
bring their Curriculum Vitae by 10 a.m.’’
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the
governor had on Wednesday held valedictory service with
20 local government chairmen in the state in Abeokuta.
